During the fur trade of the early 1800’s the person leading a party of trappers was called the Booshway.  He would also be in charge of the annual summer rendezvous.  The term comes from the French word “bourgeois” meaning middle class and was used by the voyageurs.  The mountain men simply changed the pronunciation to suit themselves.
